We don’t have any choices if we don’t know what they are”

Antenatal education is crucial in helping families understabd and navigate NHS maternity care as well as help them advicate for themselves. Antenatal education can help prevent birth trauma as well as perinatal depression and anxiety. As Muslims, we are required to educate ourselves as much as we can on matters that are relevant to us.

Join our FREE informal pregnancy group run by Manisha Sheth, antenatal teacher, perinatal counsellor, maternity advocate and founder of Muslim Village.

We will be running monthly, educational and support sessions for pregnant Muslim women in Nottingham between March and July 2025. These will be run by trained professionals:

19th March – Birth planning & choices

23rd April – Postnatal recovery & planning

21st May – Pain management

18th June – Preparing to breastfeed

16th July – Emotional wellbeing

About the Facilitator:

Salaam! I’m Manisha, I’m an Indian Muslim and a mum of 3 boys. I had a really difficult time with all of my pregnancies and had Postpartum Anxiety and Depression during and after my third. This led to my training as a Doula, an Antenatal Teacher, and a Hypnobirthing Teacher and have been supporting parents since 2018.

I have done additional training in Aromatherapy for Childbirth, Postnatal Depression, Domestic Abuse, Birth Trauma Release and Perinatal Mental Illness; as well as Fiqh of Gynaecology, Family Planning and Pregnancy and Level 2 training in Islamic Counselling. I also have experience working as an NHS Maternity & Neonatal Independent Senior Advocate.

Through Support Me, I founded Muslim Village and devloped our training on Supporting Muslim Families which I deliver regularly to healthcare professionals. I’m also a Perinatal & Baby Loss counsellor at work for a local baby & child loss charity.
