Culturally Aligned Practice Training

“Today’s training was both thought-provoking and reassuring. It surfaced so many areas I know I need to reflect on and explore further, while also putting some of my fears to rest. I really appreciated the way the space was held, it felt safe enough to be vulnerable, ask questions, and learn without judgement. I feel stretched, supported, and inspired to keep doing the work, both personally and professionally. Thank you Manisha.”

This one-day training explores Culturally Aligned Practice (C.A.P) within maternity, neonatal and perinatal care.

It has been developed to help professionals understand how culture, language, power and identity shape care experiences and and how to create systems that are both clinically and culturally safe.

Rooted in our C.A.R.E. (Culturally Aligned, Responsive, and Equitable) Model, the training supports professionals through a reflective journey of self-awareness and practice change. Participants are guided to recognise unconscious bias, understand privilege, respond with empathy, and work towards advocacy, through a gentle and judgmental approach.

This training is an interactive and reflective session to help professionals move from awareness of equitable care towards action, strengthening both confidence and compassion in practice.

Though this training, we will explore:

  • The current maternity, neonatal and perinatal landscape, beyond the numbers
  • The challenges families face including including language barriers, discrimination, and loss of psychological safety
  • Understanding unconscious bias, intersectionality, and racial trauma
  • Building cultural humility and communication confidence
  • Working within systems to influence change
  • Applying the C.A.R.E. Model in practice and within leadership

Our next training is on Monday 8th Dec 2025 and you can click here to book.

Who is this training for?

We recommend all professionals working within maternity & neonatal attend our training, including midwives, nurses, obstetricians, leadership teams and those involved in perinatal mental health and pastoral care. We also invite universities to consider this training for their faculty and students, especially those involved in midwifery and obstetrics.

We also encourage perinatal and birth professionals to attend this training, including doulas, perinatal counsellors and birth workers.

By the end of the training you will start to have:

  • Deeper self-awareness of their own biases and cultural assumptions
  • Greater understanding of the relationship between equity, privilege, and systemic barriers
  • More confidence in recognising racial trauma and its impact on care
  • Steps to explore reflective and reflexive practice for professional growth
  • Practical tools to implement culturally aligned and equitable care
  • Clear framework to support continued development and advocacy
“I think the workshop was absolutely brilliant and so very important! Anna and Manisha certainly inspired me and gave me a lot to think about, and I hope they continue to develop their work so they can inspire as many people as possible. We need it!”
