About the training

This is an extensive doula training & mentoring programme with a holistic approach, building a community of doulas with regular mentoring and supervision. Our training is a combination of in-person (Newark) and online sessions over 6 months and mentoring for a further 6 months. Culturally-aligned and trauma-informed practice is at the core of our curriculum.

Who’s it for?

This training is for anyone who wants to work closely with families during their maternity journey and make a real difference in their lives. It’s ideal if you want to support parents from diverse cultural backgrounds, speak another language, or share a cultural or spiritual connection with the families you work with.

Whether you’re new to doula work or looking to deepen your skills, this course is for people who value connection, cultural safety, and long-term mentoring over quick, one-off training.

You’ll learn how to show up with confidence, empathy, and understanding, helping families feel truly seen and supported.

You don’t need to have any previous experience, however a commitment to the training and supporting families, if you’re completing a placement, is required.

About the training:

The training combines face-to-face (Newark, NG24) and online sessions over 6 months, giving you both practical skills and ongoing mentorship.

There will be two full-day in-person sessions, and 4 live online classes before moving into monthly online mentoring as you begin supporting families.

By the end of this programme you will:

  • Understand the role & responsibilities of a Support ME Doula

  • Have an in-depth understanding of birth physiology and optimal birth positioning

  • Know how to communicate with healthcare professionals and the whole family

  • Have the skills to support families in different situations, including emergencies

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of breastfeeding, the 4th trimester, and postnatal recovery

  • Understand the importance of being culturally aligned and how to work safely with diverse families

Additional monthly mentoring sessions cover:

  • The Doula Code

  • Contracts & agreements

  • Marketing

  • Directories & associations

  • Professional development

  • Doula self-care & resilience

The programme also offers subsidised places in exchange for supporting families, giving you real-world experience while making training more accessible. By the end, you’ll be ready to provide meaningful, culturally aligned support, building confidence in yourself and the families you serve.
